How do I Know Which Therapist is Right for me?

When choosing a therapist, you may find that aligning your values for therapy to your therapist's approach can be beneficial. Another thing that can help you choose your therapist is by matching the therapist's specialty areas with your needs. At Growing Within Therapy, you can request a 15-minute complimentary phone call where you and your therapist can have an introduction and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. It is important to remember that when choosing a therapist, you don't have to stay with them forever. After a few sessions, if you do not feel like you are connecting well or getting what you want out of therapy, talk with your therapist to see how they can accommodate your needs for therapy.

"The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself"

Gina Wisinski, MA, LPC-Associate

Supervised by Angela Bulls, MA, LPC-S

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2019) and Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2022) from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. My passion is in working with individuals and couples who are working towards personal, professional, or relational growth. This can be accompanied by working on emotional regulation skills, mindfulness, and self-esteem. I enjoy being able to lead a client to better understanding how their attachment style may influence their current relationships or personality. I am a licensed professional counselor associate and I am under the supervision of Angela Bulls, MA, LPC-S.

My counseling approach is embodied around the barriers we encounter when undergoing transitions like: starting a new relationship, moving or altering living arrangements, or any other life changes. Unaddressed feelings can sometimes be affiliated with relational struggles and emotional regulation. Together we can explore and process these emotions to overcome them. Additionally, learning how to understand and appropriately respond to our emotions can provide a solid foundation for living a more fulfilling life. We can work cooperatively to establish healthy coping skills, increase self-esteem, and reduce distress. Working through your feelings can often feel scary and vulnerable, therefore, I make providing a safe and judgment free environment for my clients a top priority.

I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 Training of Gottman Methods Couples Therapy. This training is based on the highly-researched emotion-focused approach by John and Julie Gottman to help mental health professionals expand their understanding and and effectiveness for working with couples.
